STATUTES FOR THE PARISH LEADERSHIP TEAM
GENERAL POLICY
The Parish Priest is the Administrator of the of the Parish, and the Parish Leadership Team (PLT) acts in an advisory capacity. At the same time the parish priest enables the parishioners in their Baptismal responsibility to contribute to Parish life.
While maintaining responsibility the Parish Priest may delegate roles to the PLT.
Key roles of the PLT are:
Calling all to plan and engage in the Parish Vision and Mission (Annexure A)
Linking, encouraging and growing parish ministries
Discerning ministry leaders
Develop and maintain a record of key parish ministry roles, and the role definitions and succession planning for those ministries
Maintain communication with the Parish Associate Groups through attendance at the developing educational leaders meetings to unify and complement the Parish.

1.4 Defining Objectives of the PLT:
Search out and respond to the hopes, ideas, needs and concerns of parishioners
Encourage and support the good work of existing groups within the parish
Evaluate carefully information gathered in order to contribute towards the making of decisions that reflect the values of the Gospel and the teachings of the Church
MEMBERSHIP:
Membership of the PLT shall be the Parish Priest and six parishioners. Two of these are to be nominated by members of the Parish community, or by self nomination. The remainder shall be appointed from the following ministries:
Business and Finance Committee
Liturgy Committee
Youth Minister
Parish Pastoral Council
Membership shall be available to parishioners who are active members of at least one other parish ministry committee, who have been a parishioner for not less than four years (at the discretion of the Parish Priest), and who possess a reasonable capacity to understand the responsibilities associated with the administration of a Parish.
The term of office for all members shall be determined by the electing Key Group with parish representatives elected for a period of three years. Members may be re-appointed, but some change in membership of the PLT shall take place every three years.
In the event of the resignation (or termination from post for other reasons) of a member,
in the case of the key ministry groups, the PLT will invite the nomination of a replacement member;
in the case of a parish representative, the PLT will appoint a replacement to complete the term of office.
A member of the PLT shall not by reason only of being such a member be liable to contribute towards the payment of the debts and liabilities of the parish.
Membership of the PLT does not confer upon members any right, title or interest in the property of the Parish.
The Parish Priest holds the right to dismiss any member of the PLT at any time, in consultation with PLT.
Associate parish groups will be asked to nominate a delegate to maintain links with the PLT and to attend PLT meetings as appropriate, but will not have voting rights.
No remuneration (except by way of reimbursement of out of pocket expenses, if any, and approved by the Parish Priest) shall be paid to any member of the PLT in respect of their membership.
The Role of PLT Members is described in Annexure B to these Statutes.
MEETINGS
Meeting frequency shall be monthly, and no less than eleven times per year.
Other meetings of the PLT may be summoned in particular circumstances, at the request of any member and with at least one weeks notice to all members where possible.
A quorum shall consist of one half of the membership.
A member of the PLT shall be appointed by the parish priest to act as Chairperson.
The Parish Priest retains the casting vote.
The PLT shall be responsible for keeping and distributing minutes of the meetings in a timely fashion.
The PLT will invite Associate Parish Organisation contacts to meetings in March and September each year
