Palms Australia has an immediate need to recruit volunteers and are actively seeking your help.
In less than 3 minutes this YouTube video http://youtu.be/uT3TmDCMtqQ provides a fantastic example of how skilled Australian volunteers are assisting justice, peace and poverty reduction. The video features 3 Palms volunteers currently placed in Timor-Leste, Mim and Damian from the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle and Anne Chapman from the Diocese of Melbourne. It provides a great insight to the life-enriching, cross-cultural experience of an international volunteer.
As Australia's Catholic volunteering agency, we receive far more requests for help than what we can fill. We would certainly appreciate your help in sharing this with those in your network. Palms has requests for people of all ages with qualifications and experience. Sharing this appeal through your parish networks and your network of friends and associates, helps us to reach all groups in the Catholic community who may know of someone interested in such a volunteering experience. Reaching out in this way also avoids the expenditure of donor funds on expensive recruitment advertising. If there are opportunities to show the video in your parish, or on a parish website or facebook page, we would greatly appreciate it.
So many communities in Asia, Africa and the Pacific are asking Palms for assistance to build capacity and develop skills. Just 10 minutes of your time to forward this can make a huge difference to building their capacity and developing the skills needed for sustainable self-sufficiency. We have also attached a bulletin notice--if you are able to include this message in your bulletin, it will be very helpful. Even one person recruited through this effort gives a community a skilled Australian normally paid $70,000 - $100,000 or more for a year’s work.
