There are four major stages in any Sacramental Journey:
Preparation:
A period to prepare for the Sacrament
Celebration:
Liturgical experience of
the Sacrament
Living:
Applying and unfolding
the sacrament in life
Our hope is to encourage you to experience each of these four stages in a way that deepens the richness and gift of Baptism for yourselves and your child. When considering baptism we invite you to some conscious activities that touch each of these four stages.
ENQUIRY Enquiry Night Here you will meet other couples/parents and parishioners involved in baptismal preparation, and a parent and a young child will share on what the sacrament means to them. The purpose of this is to awaken within you questions such as: Enquiry Nights our held on the first Thursday of February, June, August, October and December. The night commences at 7.30pm in the Mazzarello Hall in the primary school and lasts for about an hour.

At this stage you will be invited to explore some of the meanings and symolism of Baptism, discuss the practical aspects of the celebration, and to ask any questions you may have. Preparation Nights are usually held at a Baptismal Team Member's home and last for about an hour. In any sacrament, including Baptism, there is a danger to just focus on the celebration; we can easily miss out on the other stages. Presentation Mass Before your child is baptised they will be presented to the community, at any weekend parish Mass, with a preference for the 2nd Sunday of the Month. Baptism is both a personal and community experience, and this step embraces a community dimension of Baptism. You nominate your preferred Presentation Mass time on a form that you will be given when you book your baptism date. LIVING THE SACRAMENT: This will unfold for the rest of the child's life. Please join us at any weekend Mass, although the 9.30am Mass has a special focus for young families with a Children's Liturgy during school terms and a Kiddies Corner for the little ones when they get restless. We also run a monthly Family Mass, a Family Group aimed at young familes and two Playgroups (Monday and Thursday). For more information about these see the 'Where to From Here' document below in the attachments or contact Robyn at the parish office. We pray with you for your child.
