Mission Leadership Team

Who Are We?

The Mission Leadership Team (MLT) works in close collaboration with the Parish Priest,  to animate, direct, support and challenge the Parish.   They call us to be a community of Christian disciples; being the presence of the Church and furthering God’s Mission of love, peace and justice in our local area. The MLT’s membership includes representatives for each of the four (4) main Parish Groups (Finance Committee, Pastoral Council, Liturgy Committee and Youth Ministry) and two (2) representatives nominated by parishioners.

Brief History

In 2017 Fr Mick  formed a small parish team to develop plans to ensure that the future growth and vitality of the parish was able to be sustained at a future time when the Parish  may not be served by as many priests.

A meeting was held on Sunday 4th March 2018  to inform invited members of parish groups of the working team’s current thinking and to invite feedback, comments and suggestions. A new vision statement was proposed.

A full parish assembly was held 29 July 2018 seeking endorsement of the formation of a Parish Leadership Team (PLT) and the new vision statement.

Having received Parishioner endorsement, a discernment evening was held on 8 August 2018 for those people who had been nominated by Parish Groups and parishioners to determine who would be the founding members of the PLT.

The parishioners who were chosen were commissioned on 26th August 2018 and the PLT held its first meeting on 24 September 2018.

During the course of its first year of operation, it was determined, because of a growing understanding about the PLT’s role in the Parish and the growing awareness of its members in terms of this role, that a more appropriate name for the group was Mission Leadership Team (MLT).

Dreaming Statement

The MLT aims to further the mission and vision of the parish (see link above) through the following areas:

Religious Experience:

Our dream is that the religious experience of the parishioners of St John Bosco parish is grounded in an encounter with the person of Jesus who was welcoming, prayerful, just joy-filled and responsive to the signs of the times.

Community Life:

The community of St John Bosco parish is one of genuine outreach –‘a Samaritan community’ -  where people feel welcomed, connected, able to express and enrich their spirituality in a variety of ways.

Biblical & Doctrinal Formation:

The parishioners of St John Bosco will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the person of Jesus, through various formation opportunities both formal & informal.

Missionary Commitment of the entire community:

The parish of St John Bosco is committed to outreach in response to the needs of not only those within our parish but beyond as we work to bring justice to all.
